The three outcomes

7 Up 7 Down divides the sum of two dice into three outcomes: a total below seven, a total above seven, or exactly seven. Read the selected table’s labels and payout information before entering a round.

  • 7 Down: totals from 2 through 6. For example, 1 + 4 = 5.
  • Exactly 7: a total of 7. For example, 2 + 5 = 7.
  • 7 Up: totals from 8 through 12. For example, 6 + 3 = 9.

Count the total, not a single die

Both dice matter. A six on one die is not automatically an Up result: combine it with a one and the total is seven. Likewise, two low-looking dice such as three and four produce exactly seven, not Down.

The final total is the useful reference when checking a completed round. If the animation is quick, compare the result shown in the game’s record with the two displayed values.

A simple probability illustration

For two independent, fair six-sided dice, there are 36 equally likely ordered pairs. Fifteen total less than seven, fifteen total more than seven, and six total exactly seven. That gives 15/36 for Down, 15/36 for Up and 6/36 for seven.

The six pairs making seven are 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2 and 6+1. Counting them explains why three labelled choices do not each have a one-in-three probability.

This is a calculation for ordinary fair dice, not a claim about an audited IS7 implementation. It also does not tell you the return offered by a particular game. Outcome probability and the displayed payout must be considered separately.

Before starting a round

Check how the game settles the exactly-seven result, the entry deadline, and any limits attached to the table. If a previous selection is retained on screen, confirm it still represents what you intend before continuing.
